Bardstown Bourbon Company Single Barrel | Maria's Whiskey Club Pick
A look back at Maria's Whiskey Club's first pick from The Bardstown Bourbon Company: a 6-year, barrel-proof bourbon with a high-rye mash bill.
Archive spotlight: this barrel is sold out. Featured here as a look back at a past Maria's Whiskey Club pick.
This 6-year single barrel, bottled at barrel proof, marked Maria's Whiskey Club's first-ever store pick from The Bardstown Bourbon Company, a distillery the club had visited firsthand on a Kentucky trip and come away calling one of the most unique stops of the whole visit.
How it was made
The bourbon runs a high-rye mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley, aged 6 years and bottled at a barrel proof of 128 with no cutting.
What it tasted like
The nose led with spice and oak, backed by a hint of vanilla. On the palate, that high-rye character came through immediately, spicy up front and moving into walnut notes. The finish was long, closing on dark chocolate that lingered on the tongue.
Why members loved it
Bardstown Bourbon Company has built a reputation fast, and this pick showed why: a distillery still innovating, matched with a full-proof pour that delivers real Kentucky heat without losing balance. Being the club's first pick from the distillery made it a barrel worth remembering.
